Car Crashes During the Holidays
The holidays are supposed to be a time to relax and spend time with your family. Many people travel to see their families during the later parts of December, which translates to a lot of cars on the roadways, which, coupled with the likelihood of adverse road conditions translates to an increased chance of car accidents. The high volume of cars filled with folks going from city to city can prove to be dangerous.
Many people make it to their destinations and back during the holidays without any trouble, but one Cullman County, Alabama man did not make it this Christmas. With the high volume of cars and the unusually cold weather hitting the south this year, the man did not make it to the emergency room following the accident.
Hazardous driving conditions caused by falling rain, ice, and snow compromise your ability to stop and maneuver on the roadways. It is particularly important to maintain proper defensive driving practices during the holidays to help avoid a car wreck.
You can help protect yourself from becoming the victim of a car wreck by following a few guidelines:
· Maintain a safe distance between vehicles, particularly if the roadways are icy or covered in snow
· Observe posted speed limits, and adjust your speed for extraneous conditions
· Always wear a seatbelt
· Leave early so you have plenty of time to reach your destination so you will not be tempted to rush
